The Russell clan is a Scottish clan that originates from the historic county of Berwickshire, in the Scottish Borders region. The clan's motto is "Che sera, sera" (What will be, will be), and its badge is a goat's head with the clan motto inscribed on it.
The Russell clan has a long history in Scotland, with its first recorded chief being Sir Michael Russell of that Ilk, who was active in the early 15th century. The clan was present at many of Scotland's historic battles, including the Battle of Flodden in 1513, where the chief, George Russell, was killed fighting for the Scottish army.
The clan has also been prominent in Scottish politics, with several members serving as MPs, mayors, and other high-ranking officials over the years. Today, the chief of the Russell clan is Alexander Russell of Aden, who inherited the title from his father, Sir David Russell of Aden, in 2014.
The Russell clan is still active today, with branches located in Scotland, England, Canada, the United States, and other countries around the world.
